Methodology

The annual rate of return is a useful measure of the gain or loss of an investment. It is determined by the formula:

EV = Σ   Cashflow(t) * (1 + i) ^ Dur(t)

Data Input

One can enter as many or as few cashflows as you need. For large number of cashflows an entry in the middle of the month is normally accurate enough. Outflows are entered with a negative. A zero amount does not need a date as it is ignored.
